Confirmed Team News: Amorim drops double Man United injury scare ahead of Brighton clash

Manchester United will host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

United head coach Ruben Amorim has dropped a bombshell update, admitting that both Harry Maguire and Mason Mount are fitness doubts ahead of the clash.

He said in the pre-match press conference on Friday (via ManUtd.com): “We have some doubts, we had some issues in the week with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount. Nothing serious and we will see tomorrow.

“Licha is out.”

Maguire enjoyed a sensational outing against Liverpool, grabbing a late winner at Anfield.

The England defender rose highest at the far post to nod home after a sublime volleyed cross from captain Bruno Fernandes, sealing one of United’s most memorable wins of recent seasons.

Mount started the last game and impressed with his sharp movement and intelligent positioning in the left-sided 10 role.

The former Chelsea man adds rhythm and fluidity to United’s attack and his relentless work rate also provides crucial defensive balance.

Should Maguire fail to make it, Amorim may turn to teenage sensation Leny Yoro, who has enjoyed a superb start to life in England.

The 19-year-old could slot in at right centre-back, allowing Matthijs de Ligt to shift into the middle of the back three.

Benjamin Sesko is expected to replace Mount in the line-up, with Matheus Cunha playing from the left.

Lisandro Martinez has been sidelined since February with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury but is edging closer to a long-awaited return.

However, Amorim is unlikely to rush him back into action, mindful of the defender’s injury struggles over the past two years.
