Chelsea fans will need patience with Cole Palmer over his return from a groin injury according to The Athletic.
Palmer has made just four appearances in all competitions, and he’s been plagued by a groin issue that’s caused him problems since the Club World Cup.
Maresca announced earlier this month Palmer would miss another six weeks, and that time frame could see him return against Barcelona or Arsenal at the end of November.
Chelsea fans need to be patient with Cole Palmer return
Chelsea actually haven’t won a game in which Palmer has featured in this season, and the Blues seem better equipped to deal with his absence than they have been in previous years.
Facundo Buonanotte, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez have all been used in the number ten position to varying degrees of success.
Clearly Chelsea are a much better side with Palmer in it, but the Blues have managed to pick up results with their star attacker.
Under Maresca there seems to be a real focus on long term fitness, and the club have managed Reece James really well, and will look to do the same with Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana.
The Athletic have reported fans will need patience over Palmer’s return from his groin injury, with this lay-off viewed as a necessary short term loss to protect him.
The report adds the club regard Palmer as a generational talent they want to get the best from for the next ten years not the next ten matches.
Chelsea injury list down to just four
Whilst Palmer is still sidelined Chelsea have been boosted by the news Liam Delap has returned to training and could feature in the Carabao Cup against Wolves next week.
Delap has been out since the end of August and his return is a timely boost for the Blues with some big games coming up.
Chelsea’s injury list is now down to four, with Levi Cowill, Benoit Badiashile, Dario Essugo and Palmer the only absentees.
