'We cannot': Amorim issues warning to Man United stars ahead of Brighton clash, fans will agree

Manchester United face Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, aiming to record their third consecutive Premier League victory of the season.

United head into the game with huge momentum, having beaten defending champions Liverpool on Sunday, earning their first win at Anfield since 2016.

Brighton defeated Newcastle United in their previous game and are unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions.

The Seagulls have become a bogey team for United, winning six of their last seven league games against the Mancunian giants.

Wary of Fabian Hurzeler’s side, manager Ruben Amorim has sent a clear warning to Man United’s players ahead of today’s clash.

He told Sky Sports: “It is important for the players to understand that this is a different game from Liverpool. If they have the ball, it is not an issue, we can let the team get nervous. But playing at Old Trafford, the way people see Liverpool or Brighton is different. We cannot get nervous if they have the ball sometimes.

“We need to be focused on set-pieces, we know that (Yankuba) Minteh and (Kaoru) Mitoma are going to run behind. We try to show all these small things to the player so they are ready.

“If they are ready to play the game, they will play better because they don’t need to think as much during the game. Every game is really hard, and we need to face every game the same way.”

Amorim must now select the right starting XI and make the right tactical choices if United are to beat Brighton.

Bryan Mbeumo, who has six goal involvements in eight games against Brighton, should be allowed to continue his partnership with Amad Diallo.

The three-man centre-back pairing choices must also be spot on to nullify the threat of the in-form Danny Welbeck.

Brighton have been a thorn in the flesh of United, and the club need to put an end to that, beginning with a victory in today’s clash.
