Man United Player Ratings vs Brighton: Three 9/10s and four 7/10s seal third straight victory

PL News Saturday 25 October 2025 - 18:43

Manchester United powered to a thrilling 4–2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

United head coach Ruben Amorim made two changes to his side that recorded a remarkable 2-1 victory over Liverpool last Sunday.

Leny Yoro and Benjamin Sesko came in the place of Harry Maguire and Mason Mount.

Matheus Cunha scored his Man United goal to give his team the lead.

Casemiro found himself in acres of space and unleashed a shot that went past the goalkeeper after taking a wicked deflection.

Bryan Mbeumo put United 3-0 up, with Amorim ringing changes from the bench.

Danny Welbeck scored another goal against his former club via a free kick.

United lost control of the game, with the Seagulls looking to make a comeback.

Charalampos Kostoulas headed home from a corner but Mbeumo scored in the last minute of injury time to wrap up 4-2 victory.

Player Ratings

Senne Lammens – 6/10

The 23-year-old reacted sharply to keep out Minteh’s inswinging cross that looked destined to creep in just before Mbeumo’s opener.

He will be disappointed not to have done better with Welbeck’s free-kick but redeemed himself with a crucial save to deny Kadioglu later on.

Leny Yoro – 6/10

He should try to be more brave with his passes forward.

Matthijs de Ligt – 8/10

Started a little nervously as Danny Welbeck got the better of him early on to carve out a chance.

However, he grew into the game and made a crucial headed clearance to deny Welbeck a free header inside the six-yard box.

Luke Shaw – 7/10

Another solid display at the back but still reserved with his ball distribution. Picked up an assist for Casemiro’s strike.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

Defensive okay but did not offer much going forward.

Amad Diallo – 7/10

No goal or assist to his name, but another influential display from the right wing-back role.

He constantly drove at defenders and should have been awarded a penalty

Casemiro – 9/10

Displayed outstanding vision to pick out Cunha for the opener and later doubled United’s lead with a powerful long-range effort that wrong-footed the goalkeeper via a hefty deflection.

Bruno Fernandes – 7/10

Pulled the strings in midfield and played a vital part in the opening goal. He came close to adding a third for United, but Verbruggen denied him with a sharp close-range save.

A selfless performance on his 300th game for the club.

Matheus Cunha – 9/10

Tested the Brighton goalkeeper early with a decent effort before opening his United account in style, curling a sublime strike into the top corner.

A confident, dynamic display from the Brazilian.

Bryan Mbeumo – 9/10

Two goals today, including one in the injury time to calm down the Old Trafford nerves.

Benjamin Sesko – 7/10

Back in the starting XI, Sesko should have tested the goalkeeper with his effort just before the break, but he made up for it with some excellent hold-up play and a perfectly weighted pass to set up Mbeumo’s goal.

Substitutes

Ayden Heaven – 8/10

He came on for Luke Shaw and made some fantastic recovery challenges. Also picked up his first assist of the season.

Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10

The Red Devils lost composure in midfield after his introduction.

Patrick Dorgu – 5/10

Picked up a yellow card and did enough to hand Dalot another start in the left wing-back spot.

Joshua Zirkzee – NA

Too late to rate.

Manuel Ugarte – NA

Too late to rate.
