A Sky Sports pundit has gone back to a reoccurring Chelsea issue highlighting that the team overall is just too young.
There was some truly embarrassing defending that saw Chelsea throw the game away late on and lose 2-1 to Sunderland in the Premier League yesterday.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea close in on new Front of Shirt Sponsor and the name that is expected to be announced on the shirts!!
It was a very bad result for Chelsea against a newly promoted team who they should have been beating at home, especially if they want to find themselves in and around the top four come the end of the season. It was a poor loss.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson, who is also a Chelsea fan, has already picked out two Blues players who he thought were not good enough in attack yesterday.
Merson went on to speak about how he thinks this Chelsea team just lacks experience and is too young in further words in the aftermath of the defeat.
Merson on Chelsea
‘The team is too young. The oldest player there is 23, 24?’ Merson said in words picked up by The Metro.
‘When you get a young team, you’re up and down, they have wingers who are very inconsistent. [Pedro] Neto on his day will be outstanding, the next minute…
‘There’s no 7/10s all the way through, it’s either eight, nine or fives. They can’t win the Premier League like that.
‘They need a little bit of experience in there. They miss Thiago Silva with his experience and that’s their problem.
‘They’re just going to be up and down, up and down. Hopefully they can get top four, but they’ve got to be better than that.’
