Report: Chelsea have been offered chance to sign La Liga goalkeeper in January

PL News Sunday 26 October 2025 - 06:43

Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign a goalkeeper from La Liga in the January transfer window.

The news comes after Chelsea got beaten 2-1 at home by Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon after some embarrassing defending handed the visitors all three points come the end.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea close in on new Front of Shirt Sponsor and the name that is expected to be announced on the shirts!!

Sky Sports pundit and Chelsea fan, Paul Merson, has already been reacting to the defeat and he has aimed his blame at the fact this side has just been built with too little experience and they are just too young overall.

But with all that going on of course, there is the approaching winter transfer window that is arriving just around the corner now. Chelsea will have a chance to bring in any new players if they wish to do so.  Will a new goalkeeper be on the cards?

Ter Stegen offered to Chelsea

La Liga giants Barcelona have offered up the services of goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to a trio of Premier League clubs for the 2nd half of the campaign.

As per a report from Fichajes, all of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been contacted over a potential January deal for the 33-year-old.

Any move for the experienced stopper would be for a loan to buy deal.

I doubt Chelsea will go for this

I expect Chelsea to now see out the season with the current goalkeepers they’ve got and if they do go for a new stopper, they will try for Mike Maignan on a free in the summer, should he not extend with AC Milan as expected. Chelsea, or any other club abroad, can agree a pre-contract with Maignan from January.
