Morgan Rogers was in superb form against Manchester City, and appears to have come alive after a slow start to the season.
Villa beat Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday, claiming their fourth consecutive Premier League victory in what has been a remarkable turnaround.
Matty Cash got the all-important goal, finishing well from outside the box after he was found by a clever corner routine.
Manchester City claimed that Michael Oliver should have awarded a goal-kick and their claims appeared to be warranted, but the Villans will not care about that.
Villa lost 2-1 to Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, which could have served as a critical blow, but Unai Emery‘s side responded superbly well.
Morgan Rogers ‘has got his mojo back’
Just a month ago, Rogers was ironically cheered for completing a pass against Bologna, underlining how poor the midfielder had been.
The 23-year-old had been sensational last season, picking up the PFA Premier League Young Player of the Year award for his efforts.
But, like Villa, the England international had started the season in terrible fashion, looking a shadow of his former self.
Recently, however, Rogers has started to once again look like the player who had lit up the Premier League last season.
Against Tottenham last week, he scored a stunning strike to cancel out Rodrigo Bentancur’s opener, and against Manchester City on Sunday, the midfielder appeared unstoppable.
Commentating live on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison said: “Morgan Rogers has got his mojo back, he looks unbelievable at the moment.

“The way he just glides through defenders like they’re not there is beautiful to watch. A bit like Bernardo Silva. It’s so elegant and he makes the game look so easy.”
How does Rogers stack up against Bernardo Silva?
Rogers and Silva are very different players. The Manchester City man often plays more centrally than the Villa, and while the pair do share a superb ability to take on their man, they do it in different ways.
Rogers is not the most physically dominant player in the Premier League, but he is among the best in the division at utilising the physical traits he does have.
The midfielder actually completes far more dribbles than Silva, completing 1.14 every 90 minutes compared to the Portugal international’s 0.45.
Looking at last season, the disparity is even greater, with Rogers completing almost a dribble more than Silva every game.
| Morgan Rogers | Aston Villa vs Manchester City | Bernardo Silva |
| 90 | Minutes played | 61 |
| 22/29 | Accurate passes | 15/19 |
| 1 | Chances created | 1 |
| 1 | Successful dribbles | 0 |
| 6/7 | Duels won | 1/3 |
| 6 | Recoveries | 3 |
| 3 | Tackles | 0 |
And in the other departments, the England international dominates, too. He scored more goals and registered more assists, offering greater tallies in expected goals and expected assists as well.
At Villa Park on Sunday it was a similar story. Rogers was dominant, constantly proving a difficult proposition for Manchester City to stop.
Silva, though, struggled to keep up with the youngster, and was substituted on the hour mark.
