More than 3 points: Amorim must silence Dyche after his recent Man United job dig

Manchester United will head to the City Ground this Saturday, looking to extend their Premier League resurgence against a new-look Nottingham Forest.

Just three weeks ago, United head coach Ruben Amorim was fighting for his job amid growing uncertainty at Old Trafford.

Fast forward to now, and three consecutive league victories have completely flipped the mood around the Portuguese tactician.

His next challenge comes against Nottingham Forest, who have recently appointed Sean Dyche as their manager.

Dyche boldly suggested on The Overlap podcast back in May that he could win more games if he were managing United instead of Amorim.

He said: “He’s not going to change the way he plays. He (Amorim) better win some games, pretty quick.

“I reckon if I went there and played my way, we would win more games. Just 4-4-2, give them basic rules of principles.”

More than a win at stake

Dyche’s comments were a brutal dig at Amorim, who has been working hard to implement a style of football completely different from that of his predecessors.

It was a thinly veiled jab, questioning both his authority and tactical acumen.

Time changes quickly in football, and Amorim now has the perfect chance to school Dyche.

A win at the City Ground could see United climb as high as second in the Premier League table, depending on other results.

The two managers have faced off only once before, when Amorim’s United dismantled Dyche’s Everton 4–0 in what was his first Premier League home match.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee each scored twice that day, underlining the gulf in class between the two sides.

United fans would love a repeat of that dominant performance.
