Report: Cole Palmer injury update after latest photos from Cobham offer potential clue

Cole Palmer hasn’t returned to training yet despite fans getting their hopes up after he was pictured in Chelsea training kit according to reports.

The England international has made just four appearances in all competitions, and has been plagued by a groin injury that’s caused him problems since the Club World Cup.

Maresca confirmed before the win against Nottingham Forest that Palmer would be sidelined for another six weeks.

Cole Palmer yet to return to Chelsea training

Chelsea haven’t won a game this season in which the England international has featured, and it’s understood the Blues are being careful with Palmer and his recovery.

It’s thought Palmer could potentially return towards the end of November for big games against either Barcelona or Arsenal.

However fans appeared to get their hopes up after Palmer was pictured in training kit as he was honoured at Cobham for making 100 appearances for Chelsea, but Mail Sport have reported he’s yet to return to training.

Chelsea miss Palmer and are without doubt a better side with him in it, and the game against Sunderland was perhaps one where his absence was felt most.

Without Palmer Chelsea have tried different players in the number ten, with Joao Pedro and Facundo Buonanotte given opportunities, whilst Enzo Fernandez has also been tried in a more advanced role.

Joao Pedro needs to return to form

One thing which would help Chelsea in Palmer’s absence is a return to form for Pedro who’s struggled in recent weeks.

The Brazil international has two goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, but hasn’t scored since the win against Fulham at the end of August.

Maresca revealed Pedro isn’t 100% fit, but he’s been a passenger in recent games, and has made next to no impact.

The 23-year-old was rested for the win against Wolves, and Tottenham on the weekend would be the perfect time to return to form.
