EXCLUSIVE! Juventus approach key Chelsea figure for an end of the season move!
Some players who don’t usually start for Chelsea under Enzo Maresca had the opportunity to do so on Wednesday night when The Blues played Wolves in the League Cup fourth round. Chelsea made it difficult, but they did win this game 4-3 in the end.
It was a special moment for both Jamie Gittens and Andrey Santos, both managing to score their first Chelsea goals since they have arrived at the club.
Santos got the important opening goal and the start of what we thought was going to be an easy thrashing for Chelsea as Wolves fell apart and were 3-0 down at half time.
But that wasn’t to be, Chelsea folded over a bit, and Wolves decided to turn up and make a real game of it. Chelsea were lucky in the end to go on and win the game and advance to the quarter finals.
Santos on his first goal
‘I’m so happy to score my first goal for Chelsea,’ the 21-year-old said. ‘This moment is amazing in my career, and my wife and my parents know that I’ve always dreamed of this. I’m so happy to score. It’s been a process; that’s normal. Now I’m here, I’m so happy.’
Looking ahead to Spurs this weekend
Chelsea play Tottenham this Saturday, and Santos knows they need to do better than the second half against Wolves.
He said: ‘We have to play like we did in the first half because we played with joy. In the first half, we worked hard and got to 3-0. In the second half, we were disappointing.
‘We need to keep going, keep ahead and keep improving. The most important thing is that we were able to get the win and into the quarter-finals.’
