Estevao Willian has revealed he’s really happy to have one particular player as a team-mate at Chelsea as he opened up on settling in at the club.
The teenager finally arrived after the Club World Cup despite a deal worth up to £51.4m being agreed with Palmeiras in 2024.
Estevao has made a brilliant start to the season, and has been grabbing the headlines with some impressive performances.
Estevao praises Cole Palmer
The Brazilian has rightly being receiving plaudits for his performances, and Estevao scored against Wolves in the Carabao Cup as he continued his good start to the season.
There have been calls for the 18-year-old to start on a more regular basis, but Maresca has revealed he doesn’t find it difficult to tell Estevao he isn’t playing.
Estevao is one of a number of talented attackers at Chelsea, and he revealed Cole Palmer is really helping him settle in.
“Of course, he [Cole Palmer] is someone who’s helping me settle in here, and we’re speaking little by little, passing me all that information, just like all the other players are doing to help me settle in here,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“So I’m really happy to have him as a teammate.”
Estevao has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season, but has only started once with Palmer, although that lasted five minutes due to Robert Sanchez being sent off against Manchester United.
Enzo Maresca faces Tottenham dilemma
Estevao is arguably Chelsea’s most dangerous winger and Maresca faces a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s game against Tottenham.
Pedro Neto has nailed down one of the starting spots so far this season, but both Estevao and Jamie Gittens are in good form, whilst Alejandro Garnacho is also in the mix.
On current form the Brazil international and Gittens should start, but it’s highly likely Neto will start, and then it’s one from the other three, and it will be interesting to see who Maresca goes with.
