Enzo Maresca was understandably delighted after his Chelsea team put in a strong performance to beat Tottenham away from home this evening.
At full time the manager spoke to Sky Sports where he explained he had been made nervous in the final stages by his team’s inability to turn their dominance into goals.
Maresca relieved after wasteful Chelsea finally get the job done
“Especially in England, 1-0 is not finished. Anything can happen, always. Today I think we could have scored one or two more and the game would have been over at 2 nil or 3 nil. Then it would be much more relaxed for us. But again, we are very happen, its 1-0 away against Tottenham so we are really happy.”
Joao Pedro could have had a hattrick and Jamie Gittens skied an easy chance to kill it. Luckily it didn’t cost us in the end.
Maresca was also asked about midfielder Moises Caicedo, who put in a man of the match performance for the Blues:
“He is top. He is in this moment, I think with Rodri, they are the best two defensive midfielders in the world,” Maresca said, echoing the thoughts of most pundits around the world watching the game.

In other news…
Maresca wasn’t the only person praising Caicedo – Joao Pedro also waxed lyrical about the midfielder after another match-winning performance.
Wesley Fofana was superb in the game, dominating at centre back and keeping Spurs under control. His stats were brilliant and we hope we can see more of him this season now he’s fit.
