“Chelsea were better than us” – Tottenham player admits to Blues superiority

PL News Sunday 2 November 2025 - 06:12

A Tottenham player has admitted that actually, Chelsea were just the better team in their game against them yesterday.

It was the London derby, the one for the ages, the classic fixture between the two sides, the one we all look forward to.

It wasn’t exactly a high scoring entertaining game, at least if you’re a Tottenham fan. Chelsea did what they need to do and played very well. But Spurs were just very poor, didn’t turn up in their own stadium, and ended up being booed off the park come the end of the game.

Chelsea did their bit to provide the entertainment though, but only managed to find just the one goal through Joao Pedro in the end, but it only needed one goal to grab all three points in the Premier League.

Pedro says he will be taking Moises Caicedo for dinner this week for his involvement in that goal and also, after another world class performance from the Blues midfielder.

But as Tottenham’s goalkeeper admits, Chelsea were just the superior side on the day.

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario said after the game:

“Chelsea were better than us in terms of second balls and they kept the ball with more quality. They had a better game than us, that’s the reality.”

Chelsea need this performance

It’s been a bit inconsistent from Chelsea again in the last few games and all season really, so they really did need this good performance and three points in the league.

It was encouraging to see them win so easily even though the scoreline was only 1-0. Spurs rarely threatened at all or even looked like scoring a goal.
