“I’m very happy I scored and the team won. I think everyone has a chance to score, not just me the others as well. We gave 100% today and in the end we got three points,” the striker said.

“Like I said to Enzo and Moises, I had a few chances but I scored one and missed two. I gave a pass to Jamie. Sometimes I will score, sometimes I will not. I want to score a lot.

“I will always play for the team. I know I need to score but if my team-mate is in a better position I will pass to him. I think when Moises, Enzo and the team is focused, I think it is difficult to beat us. We need to improve and be like this every game.

JP also had a moment for his captain Reece James, who was drafted into midfield and really put in a strong showing to help his team to a win:

“I think everyone knows how important Reece James is for the team. He’s our leader. He gives us energy. Since I joined Chelsea I always expect to fight for something. I played three games and won a trophy. This is what the fans expect.”

In other news…

After JP scored Chelsea’s winner, and Enzo Maresca took the chance after the game to point out that part of the reasons the striker has struggled is a persistent injury.

Reece James played in midfield in the game and got high praise for his showing. His manager was really positive about how the captain had done, both on and off the pitch.
