Owen Hargreaves had some interesting advice for Joao Pedro following Chelsea’s win against Tottenham on Saturday.
Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners with Joao Pedro scoring the only goal, but truth be told the Blues should have won by a bigger margin.
Pedro could have had a hat-trick, whilst Jamie Gittens missed a huge chance at the end, but luckily none of that proved costly.
Owen Hargreaves advice for Joao Pedro
The win moved Chelsea up to fifth in the table level on points with Tottenham, whilst for Pedro it was a first goal in six Premier League games.
Pedro admitted after the game it was a relief to score, and the Brazil international has three goals and three assists in the league so far this season.
Chelsea will need Pedro to get back to the form he showed at the Club World Cup and the start of the season, and although he’s not been prolific in his career to date, Hargreaves thinks he’s got the potential to score 25 goals a season.
“Joao Pedro could have had a hat-trick today,” he told the Premier League’s official website.
“He’s a fabulous footballer, he could easily score 25 a season, but I want him to be a bit more selfish.”
The attacker scored ten goals for Brighton in the league last season, and his first target has got to be to beat that tally this campaign.
Liam Delap fit again
The 24-year-old has been used predominantly as a number nine since arriving at Chelsea, in large part to Liam Delap being injured.
Delap has now returned, although he was suspended for the Spurs game after being sent off against Wolves in midweek.
His return will allow the Brazil international to play in the number ten until Palmer returns, which will likely result in him being far more involved in the game in terms of getting on the ball and having shots, something that will only benefit Chelsea.
