Chelsea are back in the race for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa with the Portuguese giants prepared to sanction his exit for €80m according to reports.
The Blues agreed a deal for Aghehowa back in 2024, but it collapsed in the final moments, and Chelsea instead signed Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
Agehowa joined Porto instead and the 21-year-old has been in brilliant form since arriving in Portugal and scored 27 goals in his first season, whilst he already has nine this campaign.
Chelsea back in the race for Samu Aghehowa
Chelsea were busy in the summer and signed five attackers, with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap arriving as new strikers.
Delap has been injured most of this season, but is now fit again, whilst Pedro has three goals and three assists in the league so far this season.
Marc Guiu is also at the club, although it’s unlikely his future lies at Chelsea beyond the end of the season, whilst Chelsea also have Emanuel Emegha arriving next summer.
However, that hasn’t stopped the Blues being linked with strikers, and Correio da Manha have reported Chelsea are back in the race for Aghehowa.
The report adds Tottenham are also in the race, and Porto would be prepared to sell the Spaniard for €80m, which could happen in January with the club due to financial pressure.
Aghehowa is under contract until 2029 and has a €100m release clause, but it appears that could be negotiated down.
Emanuel Emegha to join Chelsea in 2026
Links to Aghehowa don’t really make much sense, given Chelsea have Emegha arriving from Strasbourg next summer.
Emegha has already since a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge, but will complete the season with Strasbourg before making the switch to west London.
The Dutch under-21 international scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and is a unique profile given his 6ft 5″ frame, and he’ll add a totally different profile to Chelsea’s attack.
