Aston Villa are strong favourites to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League on Thursday.
Last time out in the Europa League, Villa lost 2-1 to Go Ahead Eagles, with Unai Emery keen to put that result right and quickly get his team back on track.
The Villans had been perfect in the competition, beating Bologna and Feyenoord, but were caught cold by the energetic Dutch team.
Villa’s match against Maccabi Tel Aviv has been surrounded in controversy, after it was announced that no away fans would be able to attend Villa Park.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer slammed Aston Villa for the decision and attempted to reverse it, but the move has been upheld.
Aston Villa are massive favourites vs Maccabi Tel Aviv
Villa lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Saturday and will come into this game on the back of a disappointing loss.
It had been four straight wins in the Premier League for Emery’s side, but individual mistakes led to their downfall at Anfield.
Still, Villa will be confident for Thursday’s match, and have been tipped as massive favourites by Opta‘s supercomputer.
An overwhelming 77 per cent chance has been placed on a Villa win, with Maccabi Tel Aviv given just an eight per cent chance of emerging victorious.
The supercomputer has given a 13 per cent chance of the scores ending level on 6 November.

Villa must get the job done vs Maccabi Tel Aviv
Thursday’s match has been made to feel about far more than football. Discussions had taken place that would have seen Israeli football clubs banned from European competition due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
And the debate over the decision to ban the away fans attracted such wide attention and outrage.
Bizarrely so, too, given the fact that Maccabi Tel Aviv’s derby with Hapoel Tel Aviv was called off just days after the announcement due to what the police described as “violent riots.”
| Europa League | Aston Villa | Maccabi Tel Aviv |
| Game 1 | Aston Villa 1-0 Bologna | PAOK 0-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv |
| Game 2 | Feyenoord 0-2 Aston Villa | Maccabi Tel Aviv 1-3 Dinamo Zagreb |
| Game 3 | Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 Aston Villa | Maccabi Tel Aviv 0-3 Midtjylland |
Villa must ensure their focus is kept on the pitch on Thursday, however. Maccabi Tel Aviv are unbeaten in the Israeli Premier League this season, but have struggled in the Europa League.
Zarko Lazetic’s team have lost two of their three games in the competition, and have drawn the other. Villa certainly have the quality to return to winning ways, but must remain focused.
