Newcastle fans have been left questioning why they signed Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa.
Aston Villa faced a serious PSR dilemma in the summer, which ultimately led to the sale of Ramsey to Newcastle for a fee in the region of £43million, including add-ons
Since then, the 24-year-old has made just six appearances for Newcastle, with just one start in the Premier League.
He was brought on by Eddie Howe as his side were trailing against West Ham, and the Magpies are already turning against Ramsey as a result of his lacklustre performances.

Aston Villa’s summer transfer business was mixed, at the very best, though Newcastle’s dealings in the market over the last few years have left fans questioning the direction of their club.
Ramsey, alongside Anthony Elanga, set the Magpies back nearly £100m in the summer, and neither of them have been able to register a goal contribution.
As for Ramsey, he is certainly not a fan favourite in the North East.
One Newcastle fan on X said: “We’ve needed a number 10 for 3 years and we spent £40m on Jacob [expletive] Ramsey“, with one Liverpool fan even questioning what the Magpies were thinking.
Another angered supporter added: “All that money wasted on players and we didn’t get a number 10 we desperately need. Don’t see why we got Ramsey.”
A large portion of the Newcastle fanbase have been left questioning what Ramsey offers to the side, and the fact that Aston Villa got as much money as they did for him is a showcase of just how well that deal was constructed.

While Ramsey had some decent seasons for Aston Villa in terms of goals and assists, there was never a £43m player in there.
Whether it’s an indication of just how much the Premier League market has changed, or just how well the negotiations were in the summer, remains to be seen.
The Englishman has always been solid, without actually excelling in any department, and his stats from his final season at Villa Park showcase that.
Via FotMob, Ramsey created just 21 chances last season in the Premier League, which was a tally bettered by nearly half of the players in his position throughout the league.

Despite playing over 1,200 minutes, he completed just two crosses last campaign, with a combined xA (expected assists) of just 2.19.
Creativity was never his biggest strength, and Villa are coping well without him, while the Magpies are struggling to find any form with him.
