Andrey Santos on helping teammate settle in to the Premier League

PL News Tuesday 4 November 2025 - 15:13

Once Enzo Maresca had completed his part of the press conference today, it was Andrey Santos’ turn to talk.

The midfielder is gradually working his way into the first team picture at Chelsea and should start in a rotated team tomorrow night. Another Brazilian starlet set to get his latest start is Estevao Willian, and Santos spoke a little about their budding relationship on and off the pitch.

“I arrived here young like Estevao. I know how difficult it is to be in the Premier League at 18 years old. I try to help him,” the midfielder said.

“I think [getting into Chelsea’s first team] is a process. I had my process. Estevao has another process, coming from Brazil… For me it was different, in Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg now here. It’s a process.

“We are always together [Joao Pedro and Estevao]. We arrive to the training ground together. We go to the national team together and do a lot of things together. It’s important to go on the pitch with these relationships.”

We have to say we love the maturity of Estevao and Andrey both, and we’re not surprised they’re helping each other out. Beyond their obvious immense talent, it’s their character which really convinces us that they’re going to be big hits at Chelsea.

In other news…

Enzo Maresca has some difficult decisions to make for the team tomorrow night. He won’t want to start anyone in Baku who also is going to start in the Premier League on Saturday.  We reckon Santos and Estevao both start tomorrow and then are bench options against Wolves.

Among the other topics discussed was Romeo Lavia’s fitness and availability tomorrow and on Sunday.
