Jamie Gittens has had a tough time at the start of this Chelsea career, there’s no denying it.
The winger has been left on the bench in most games, but last night he started for the Blues against Ajax and had probably his best performance yet. He won the man of the match award from UEFA, and spoke in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
Gittens says teammates are “fun to play with”
“We played well, we dominated the game and we got the three points,” Gittens said after the 5-1 win.
“I’m still getting the hang of things, trying to adapt in a new team and a new style of play, but it’s going well and I’m pleased right now.”
“It’s a young group, such good people, everyone is good to be around on and off the pitch. It’s a good time right now,” Gittens said.
“It’s such a good team, everyone is working hard in training, everyone is so fun to play with, so for me it’s so positive to be around.”
We can certainly see the likes of Estevao Willian being fun to play with. Having Moises Caicedo covering for you defensively must be a pretty good feeling too. There are also the likes of Joao Pedro, who are true team players, all about setting up others rather than just finishing chances.
Gittens just needed someone to get on the end of one of those delicious crosses he put into the box…
In other news…
Jorrel Hato has admitted he’s taking a while to get up to speed physically in the Premier League, but last night he impressed against Ajax in European competition, where he was dominant.
Estevao also impressed last night, racking up some crazy attacking numbers against a ten man Ajax team who just didn’t want to be there and breaking a season record in the Champions League.
