“It’s what we need” – Chelsea’s undroppable winger speaks about controversial tactic

PL News Saturday 25 October 2025 - 14:13

Chelsea are about to take on Sunderland in the Premier League, and just before kick off we’ve heard from Pedro Neto.

The winger remains one of the few certainties in Enzo Maresca’s side. His strong showing against Nottingham Forest has cemented him as one of the untouchables in the first XI right now.

He is also one of the more experienced players in the squad, as becomes clear when he speaks about the team and their progress:

“After three wins in a row we are really positive. We want to continue the form, we are not happy only with that. We want to be consistent. Today is a good opportunity for us to take three points at home against a difficult team,” the winger said in quotes for the Premier League’s official website.

“I feel better everyday to be honest and I continue to work hard. And I hope to have even better form than I do now.”

Chelsea name absurdly young teams in general at the moment, as part of their controversial youth revolution, but with Josh Acheampong and Marc Guiu playing in the spine of the team today it’s a particularly youthful group – but Neto has no fear:

“Age is just a number. When you get three youngsters doing what they are doing, helping the team, it’s what we need. We need players to help the team.”

In other news….

We had a great chat with Sunderland site Roker Report on how today’s game could go, which you can read here. this team selection certainly changes our thoughts a little bit.

And former Chelsea man Marcel Desailly has said the Blues are a player short of having the firepower to win the league. Let’s hope we can prove him wrong by banging in a few today.
