Aston Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Manchester City on Sunday.
Man City travelled to face Villa with the hope of securing their fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
Unai Emery will have been keen to get back to winning ways after Villa lost 2-1 to Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League last time out.
The Spaniard will have been delighted to see Matty Cash open the scoring against City as his weak-footed effort found the corner after 19 minutes.
The scoreline remained at 1-0 at Villa Park as the home side put in a terrific defensive shift to shut Pep Guardiola’s men out despite a late Erling Haaland scare.
Now, Villa News has rated each player’s performance out of 10 in B6.
Manchester City couldn’t deal with John McGinn
John McGinn looks set to sign a new deal at Villa after what has been a stellar spell since signing in claret and blue back in 2018.
The Scotland international’s performance against City is just further proof of the asset he’s been for the Villans over the years.
McGinn picked up 31 touches throughout his 74-minute showing at Villa Park and in that time completed 11 passes and got two shots off.

Four of those passes were into the final third as the 31-year-old looked to get his side forward where possible against Guardiola’s men.
The skipper also won four duels while being the most fouled player on the pitch, as he was brought down four times in the Midlands.
A captain’s performance from arguably Villa’s most consistent performers this season and beyond.
Ollie Watkins was poor again for Aston Villa
Frustration surrounding Ollie Watkins is only growing louder and louder after what was yet another shocking performance.
So many times, the England international let a poor touch get away with him and let himself down in a promising situation.
The 29-year-old took two shots against City but kept up a zero per cent accuracy rate, which just isn’t good enough for a lone striker.

Watkins went without scoring again, but truly didn’t contribute in any other area to justify why he stayed on the pitch for 85 minutes.
Villa’s number 11 lost two ground duels and failed to win a single aerial duel as his terrible afternoon continued in claret and blue.
It truly wasn’t Watkins’ day, but serious questions about his form do need to be answered at some point.
