'Working Extremely Hard': Fresh hope for Man United as key star nears return from injury

PL News Monday 27 October 2025 - 21:13

Manchester United have received a potential boost on the fitness of one of their key defenders.

Harry Maguire scored the match-winning goal in the 2-1 win over Liverpool but had to miss the subsequent clash due to an injury.

The club are yet to confirm the probable date of his return.

According to reliable insider Sully Talkz, Maguire’s injury is seen as ‘minor’ and is not deemed as ‘serious’.

The aim of the club is to have him back in some form of grass training this week.

It was further revealed that Maguire is “working extremely hard to recover” and return to team training.

His current contract with United expires in June 2026.

The club may offer him a new deal if he agrees to extend his contract at the same wages.

After a tough start to life in Manchester, Maguire has established himself as a cult hero.

He has won points for his side by scoring important late goals.

He has also developed as a leader and is a vocal voice in the dressing room.

The 31-year-old is one of the six members of the leadership group under manager Ruben Amorim.

Maguire has been a rock at the heart of the back three.

He is dominant in the air and physically strong enough to outmuscle any striker.

His weakness lies in moving to the side, but playing with two additional centre-backs helps prevent him from being exposed.

Maguire often makes errors but he is still one of the key defenders under Amorim.

The clash with Nottingham Forest may come too soon for the Englishman, especially with a capable deputy like Leny Yoro available.

However, United fans will be hopeful to see him return for the pivotal encounter with Tottenham Hotspur on November 8.
