According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are in concrete negotiations for promising Swedish striker Kevin Filling.
Filling could leave Swedish side AIK as early as the January transfer window and has been valued at £2 million.
The 16-year-old started his career at IK Franke before joining Vasteras SK Fotboll’s youth academy, and moved to AIK in 2023.
He broke into limelight when he scored on his debut in a 3–0 home win over IFK Goteborg but picked up an injury that derailed his momentum.
Filling has now recovered from injury and has featured in seven league games this season, scoring two goals.
United were linked with the young Swedish striker last summer but he played down the links, stating that he ‘will continue’ at AIK.
Even so, United remain keen on securing his services but face competition from Bundesliga clubs for his signature.
Due to FIFA regulations, Filling will be unable to join United until he is 18, meaning he could remain at AIK until he comes of age.
Ineos have invested heavily in youth acquisition since they arrived at Man United, with the likes of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone and Diego Leon being some of the notable youngsters signed under them.
United recently completed the signing of 16-year-old goalkeeper Charlie Hardy from Championship club Derby County.
There is also a preliminary agreement to sign Colombian starlet Cristian Orozco, and they are close to signing Senegalese wonderkid Mouhamed Dabo.
The signing of these promising youngsters will help improve the amount of talent in the academy, with the hope that some of them will develop into future first-team stars.
