Wolves vs Chelsea – Team News: Maresca takes drastic action with his strikers

PL News Wednesday 29 October 2025 - 17:43

Chelsea face Wolves at Molineux in just over an hour, and the teams are in!

Enzo Maresca has a huge game coming up at the weekend against Spurs, so as you’d imagine he rotates pretty seriously here.

Filip Jorgensen gets his customary start in goal, his third of the season.

Backup full backs Malo Gusto and Jorrel Hato are also wheeled out, as we could have predicted. What’s interesting is in the middle – we thought maybe Wesley Fofana would get some minutes from the start, but instead it’s Josh Acheampong and Tosin who start.

Does this mean Fofana is being saved for Sunday’s game against Spurs? We’ll find out soon enough.

In midfield, Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos form a solid base, with Facundo Buonanotte playing ahead of them. Out wide, Jamie Gittens and Estevao are going to provide a serious test for the Wolves full backs.

Instead of Marc Guiu or Joao Pedro leading the line, Enzo Maresca has gone for his emergency option, Tyrique George. We already know that Liam Delap is ready for some minutes, so we expect to see him deep into the second half.

Worryingly, this may mean that Guiu is in line to start against Tottenham, despite his devastatingly poor showing a week ago. Still, let’s go and score some goals to get our confidence u!

Here are the full team line-ups for Wolves vs Chelsea (kick off at 19:45 GMT)

CHELSEA:

Enzo Maresca’s team to take on Wolves in the Carabao Cup.

In other news…

Malo Gusto has been linked with a getting a new contract at Chelsea after establishing himself as a regular under Enzo Maresca. It’s not a universally popular decision in the fanbase.

Gusto isn’t the only defender Chelsea have in mind right now. They’ve also been linked with a couple who are out of contract next summer.
