(Video): Jamie Gittens’ rocket volley seals MOTM performance and Chelsea win

PL News Wednesday 29 October 2025 - 20:58

Chelsea have (finally) sealed the win over Wolves in the EFL Cup.

After scoring 3 in the first half, the Blues got sloppy and allowed the home team back into it. After Liam Delap was sent off and the deficit had been reduced to just one goal, things were getting hairy. But Jamie Gittens has just hit a superb goal to finish the game off.

It was the kind of strike you only get in those sorts of moments – a tired team reaching extra time, a player with no support around hm having a go.

The bouncing ball came through to Gittens well outside the box and wide of the centre and he just booted it right footed, slamming it past Jose Sa to finally end a game that should have been ended hours before.

All in all it was a great showing from Gittens. It was perhaps the best left wing performance we’ve had from any player this season. Two assists and a goal, lots of quick feet and dangerous runs. He had 70 touches and made 3 key passes as he played an important role in our attack.

This goal was a great way to open his account for Chelsea, and a good reward for a good performance tonight.

In other news…

Two goals in quick succession in the first half looked to have sealed the game early – you can see Tyrique George and Estevao’s efforts in the clips embedded here.

Chelsea had taken the lead tonight through Andrey Santos, who banged in his first Blues’ goal with a shot from the edge of the area which you can see here.
