Arsenal’s faith in Andre Harriman-Annous has been clear for some time and last night the talented forward received an opportunity to impress on the big stage as he started against Brighton in the Carabao Cup.
Having been involved with the senior squad in pre-season, Harriman-Annous already possessed some experience of first-team football but this was his first competitive action and he proceeded to make an impact.
Harriman-Annous has played in numerous positions during his development (including in midfield and out wide) but since the start of last season there has been a focus on him being a striker, with the prospect frequently leading the line for the U21s while playing above his age group.
Against Brighton the 17-year-old demonstrated his impressive link-up play, while he also had an effort saved just before Bukayo Saka scored.
Harriman-Annous will hope for further involvement with the first-team in the near future, with the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace and the Champions League game against Kairat Almaty representing potential opportunities for him to be called up.
The Hale End product’s hard-working nature will certainly have helped to endear him to Mikel Arteta and further chances with the senior squad could follow.
