Cyril Olives Berthet is becoming a great follow on Twitter for Chelsea fans.

He covers Strasbourg for legendary French football paper L’Equipe, and is a great way to keep up with our BlueCo sister club.

The Alsatians got another big win last night, brushing aside Auxerre 3-0 to put themselves into join third place in Ligue 1, and at full time the journalist noted that the team he covers now have 2 players among the top 10 average rated by the famous L’Equipe rating system in the whole league.

In fact, they have two of the top four.

The top rated Ligue 1 players this season.

Valentin Barco has been shining as a left wing back but also inverting into midfield, and by all accounts he was on fire last night. Then there’s striker Joaquin Panichelli, who bagged another last night to make him top scorer in the division with 9 goals.

The pair of them look incredible under manager Liam Rosenior, and we can’t wait to see what sort of impact they make in Europe this year with that sort of talent on board. Losing Djordje Petrovic and Andrey Santos hasn’t ended up hurting them at all, and they look set to even improve on last season.

In other news…

Enzo Maresca used the press conference last night to unload his frustration on his players, in particular with Liam Delap, who celebrated his return to the team after months out with two yellow cards in 7 minutes to pick up his team’s latest red.

The pick of Chelsea’s goals last night was Jamie Gittens’ rocket strike of a bouncing volley to finish the game at the end. Two goals in quick succession in the first half looked to have sealed the game early – you can see Tyrique George and Estevao’s efforts in the clips embedded here.
