Amorim must unleash £11m Man Utd star at LWB after Dalot horror show

Manchester United had to settle for a point after a 2–2 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

While Casemiro, Amad Diallo and Matheus Cunha put in battling displays, one player badly let the side down.

Diogo Dalot endured a torrid evening, with Forest repeatedly targeting his flank to deliver crosses that turned the game on its head.

The Portuguese defender reacted far too slowly when the ball dropped in the six-yard box, allowing Nicolo Savona the vital split seconds he needed to fire past Senne Lammens.

Despite occupying the left wing-back spot, he played only one pass into the final third.

He failed to complete a single cross, and lost possession 12 times.

Manager Ruben Amorim was visibly frustrated on the touchline, holding multiple discussions with the 26-year-old about his poor positioning.

We believe that Amorim must drop the Portugal international and unleash Luke Shaw in the left wing-back spot.

Luke Shaw has shown signs of improvement

The England international endured a horror show against Manchester City earlier in the campaign but has steadily improved over the last few weeks.

He was particularly impressive against Forest, earning a 7/10 rating in our post-match analysis.

Shaw won nine duels and made two tackles.

He also produced three blocks, including a potential goal-saving one to deny Morgan Gibbs-White from point-blank range.

The £11 million-rated star also played a fabulous diagonal pass from the left centre-back position to Cunha, but the Brazilian failed to read it and made the wrong run.

Shaw repeatedly stepped up to close down his marker, showing aggression and awareness that had been missing earlier in the season.

Leny Yoro or Noussair Mazraoui could temporarily occupy the left centre-back position, allowing Shaw to move into the wing-back role.

This shows how important the imminent return of Lisandro Martinez will be.

The Argentina international has rejoined full team training after recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered in February.

When fit and available, Martinez will be an undisputed starter in the left centre-back position.
