Jamie Redknapp hailed Moises Caicedo as the best midfielder of his “type” after Chelsea’s win against Tottenham on Saturday.
Chelsea bounced back from defeat to Sunderland by beating Spurs 1-0, with Joao Pedro scoring the only goal of the game.
The Blues should have won by a bigger margin and Pedro could have had a hat-trick, whilst Jamie Gittens was guilty of missing a sitter with the goal at his mercy.
Jamie Redknapp brands Moises Caicedo world class
Enzo Maresca was under pressure heading into the game with Chelsea in ninth and Spurs flying high in third place.
The three points moved Chelsea up to fifth and level on points with their London rivals, and it was a masterclass from Maresca.
The Italian once again made a number of changes to the side, but as is so often the case Caicedo once again stood out.
Maresca claimed after the game Caicedo and Rodri are the two best midfielders in the world, and the 24-year-old played a key role in the goal.
Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Caicedo, and Redknapp believes he’s the best midfielder of his type in the world.
“World class. I’d go as far as to say that right now, he’s the best of his type in world football,” he told Sky Sports.
“Just absolutely phenomenal the way he covers ground, his desire, his quality on the ball, putting out fires for his team, chasing lost causes, strength on the ball, always making the right pass.
“I just thought he was magnificent today.
“And it’s a dream. When you’re a defender and you’ve got someone like that just hoovering up in front of you, having quality like that, it’s just a dream.”

Chelsea preparing new contract for midfield Maestro
Caicedo has been performing at a top class level for well over a year, and is without a doubt Chelsea’s most important player.
The Ecuador international is finally getting the praise he deserves from the wider football community, and Chelsea are planning to reward him with a new contract.
The Blues aren’t thought to be in a rush to get a deal done, but they are keen to open talks with the former Brighton man.
