Enzo Maresca made a lot of changes for tonight’s draw with Qarabag, and one of the most notable was putting Jorrel Hato into central defence. It didn’t go well.
We took a look at the ratings that the defender got from a few different publications to give an overview of how he did. It wasn’t pretty.
Hapless Hato slammed by numerous ratings
“Jorrel Hato – 4: Shaky in the first half and was lucky not to have given away a penalty in the 13th minute. Should’ve cut out the ball in the build-up to Qarabag’s equaliser from Leandro Andrade,” wrote The Sun.
The Chelsea Chronicle went even lower:
“Jorrel Hato – 3: It was a baptism by fire of sorts for the young Dutchman, who was responsible for both Qarabag goals in the first half — losing possession for the opener and giving away a penalty for a handball. A learning moment.”
That was the same as Football.London were willing to give:
“Jorrel Hato – 3: A rare opportunity to see the Dutchman at centre-back. Gets done by a bounce from a long ball and finds himself tussling with Duran. The Qarabag forward gets the better of Hato, who was far too weak, and that led to the equalising goal for the hosts. Has to be stronger in that situation. Moments later, he’s the culprit again; giving the ball away and then handballing it to give Qarabag a penalty.”
And the Evening Standard keeps the same theme:
“Jorrel Hato – 3: A bit of a nightmare evening for him. At fault for the opening goal and again directly to blame for the conceding of the penalty for the second. Must learn from this but is still only 19, and his second-half display was better.”
In other news…
Tosin got good marks on the stats site in this game despite a poor showing – we had a look at why that might be, here.
Chelsea equalised when sub Alejandro Garnacho burst through and scored, but they couldn’t get the crucial third goal to earn them three points. The Blues had taken the lead in this game through Estevao Willian – although their subsequent bad defending meant that didn’t last long.
