Manchester United youngster Harry Amass is quickly proving why he is considered one of the brightest prospects to emerge from the club’s academy in recent years.
Amass is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday for the 2025–26 campaign and has started all ten games since completing a late-summer move.
The 18-year-old played a pivotal role in helping Wednesday earn a hard-fought point against Norwich City in the Championship on Wednesday night.
He started in the left wing-back spot and had 46 touches of the ball in 90 minutes.
He played two key passes, including creating a big chance that should have been converted into a goal.
Amass completed 22 out of his 25 passes.
The majority of his passes came in the opposition half, underlining his desire to drive play forward and maintain attacking pressure.
He was also defensively solid, making four recoveries and winning eight duels.
The United academy product was particularly adventurous in the first half, constantly pushing up the flank and linking well with his teammates.
In the seventh minute, he made a run down the left flank before cutting inside and slipping a perfectly weighted pass to Barry Bannan with his weaker foot.
The 35-year-old attempted a curling shot, but the Norwich goalkeeper made a decent save.
Amass should have bagged an assist in the 29th minute, but forward Jamal Lowe failed to guide his header on target.
The full-back used his lightning-quick feet to skip past his marker and deliver a sublime whipped cross into the six-yard box.
The ball found Jamal Lowe in space between two defenders, but the forward could only glance his header wide.
Avoid Alvaro Carreras 2.0 embarrassment
At Old Trafford, the left wing-back position remains an unresolved issue.
Diogo Dalot has struggled to make the role his own under manager Ruben Amorim.
Patrick Dorgu has shown flashes of promise but still needs refinement to reach the consistency required at the top level.
We believe, Amass could be the long-term solution United have been searching for on the left flank.
The Red Devils have already learned the hard way with Alvaro Carreras, who was allowed to leave without a proper chance and is now flourishing at Real Madrid.
United must not make the same mistake twice.
Amass deserves a pathway to the first team next season and his loan performances suggest he is more than ready to take that step.
