Time to take a look at the physical stats now that showed why Chelsea could not beat minnow side Qarabag last night.
The Blues had to settle with a 2-2 draw but to be honest, although they did have the better of the second half and pushed for that illusive winning goal, they could have just have easily lost this one as well.
Chelsea were terrible in the first half and made a catalogue of individual errors and looked dodgy at the back in possession and under the press.
Chelsea took the lead through a nice goal from rising star of the moment Estevao Willian. But after that, they allowed Qarabag back in the game with individual errors and poor defending, and the home side went 2-1 up by half time.

Enzo Maresca must have been furious during the break and he made three changes to try and get his team back in the game. One of those changes was Alejandro Garnacho, who scored a very important goal soon after coming on the pitch.
Chelsea not up to it physically
Chelsea just did not match Qarabag’s intensity, running, and physical desire to get something from the game, and that’s why they didn’t win.
These are Qarabag vs Chelsea’s physical stats (home v away) pulled from FotMob:
Nobody was sprinting
Liam Delap is the only Chelsea player in the top 7 quickest players for the game:
Qarabag just wanted it more and did more to get it. Chelsea lacked quality as well as physical desire, so it was a disaster waiting to happen for them.
I think in the end, despite Chelsea being the side looking more likely to grab the winner, they would have been quite relieved to even get a draw after being 2-1 down at the break.
