Chelsea walked away from last night’s 2-2 draw with Qarabag greatly disappointed.
The Blues had the lead in the game and put a strong team out, yet still ended up drawing.
Speaking after the game to Chelsea TV, manager Enzo Maresca said that the difference was “in the two boxes.”
What that means is that his team defended badly and attacked badly. Well, yeah that does tend to cost you.
“We conceded a silly goal, and in their box we had many moments and many chances where we could have scored some goals.
“In the first half we scored then conceded two silly goals… we take the point and move on to Saturday’s win.”

Winger disappointed despite his first Chelsea CL goal
Also speaking to the media post game was Alejandro Garnacho, who scored the equaliser after coming on as a sub:
“I think it was a tough game. We always try to win, we are not happy, we are Chelsea and we should win all the games,” winger Garnacho said.
He was then asked about his goal, his first in the Champions League for Chelsea:
“I came on and I tried to help the team. But it’s not important that I scored. The important thing is to win the game and we didn’t win today, so it means nothing… it’s not enough, we needed to score another goal.”
“It was a good finish, I tried to help the team with a goal or an assist or just with hard work, but it wasn’t enough.”

In other news…
Reece James spoke to the media post game and had a lot of praise for his teammate Estevao, who had opened the scoring but saw his teammates let him down as the game wore on.
James had already mentioned “one thing” he thought his team needed to improve as this season starts to take shape with some familiar patterns in place.
